From the archives of the holy Rabbi Aharon of Chernobyl! She’elot U’Teshuvot Ne’ot Desha by the author of Arvei Nachal – Lemberg, 1861 – First Edition The sanctified exemplar of the holy Rabbi Aharon of Chernobyl, a remnant from the treasured library which was inherited by his son, the tzaddik Rabbi Meshulam Zusia of Chernobyl. Ownership inscription on the title page: ” ר' זוסיא בהרב”  – a sign and mark of the division of inheritance among the sons of the holy Rabbi Aharon of Chernobyl, who, as is known, divided the sefarim of their father among themselves and wrote upon each volume into whose lot it had fallen. The holy Rabbi Aharon of Chernobyl [1747–1872], son of the holy Rabbi Mordechai the Maggid of Chernobyl, son of the holy Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Chernobyl, author of Me’or Einayim. He was also the grandson (through his mother) of the holy Rabbi Aharon Ha'Gadol of Karlin. In his first marriage, he was son-in-law of the Teshua’t Chen of Linits, and in his second marriage, son-in-law of the holy Rabbi Zvi of Kristoshiv. In his youth, he was educated by his grandfather, the Me’or Einayim. Already in his father’s lifetime, the great Chassidim revered him and looked to him. After his father’s passing, he succeeded him as leader in Chernobyl. The admiration of the Chassidim for him was immense, and throughout the region they obeyed his word; even his brothers, Rebbes themselves, all submitted to him, accepted his authority, revered him, and loved him deeply. He served as president of the Eretz Yisrael fund in Ukraine, a role of great importance in his eyes, being involved in all matters of Kollel Volhynia – from collecting donations to distributing support for the dwellers of the Holy Land, including overseeing all public matters of the Land of Israel in his days. His son, who succeeded him, the holy Rabbi Yeshaya Meshulam Zusia [1814–1881], was son-in-law of his uncle, the holy Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Makarov. In his second marriage, he was the son-in-law of the holy Rabbi Pinchas of Slavuta, and in a third marriage, son-in-law of Rabbi Mordechai Ze’ev Rabinowitz, grandson of the Baal Shem Tov. His son-in-law was the holy Rabbi Yehoshua Rokeach of Belz (the Mahari”d of Belz). Upon his father’s passing, he was appointed, together with his brother, to lead the congregation in Chernobyl.
