The rare approbation of Rabbeinu, the HaGaon HaChassid of Vilna – Darkei Noam, Königsberg 1764. Sefer Darkei Noam by Rabbi Shmuel of Kalwaria – Königsberg, 1764 – First Edition – with the exceedingly rare approbation of the Gaon of Vilna, dated Sivan 1762. This Sefer deals with the explanation of the obscure and wondrous Aggadic passages of the Amora Rabbah bar bar Chana, in the manner of Derush, Remez, and Sod. The Gaon of Vilna almost never gave approbations to Sefarim, with the exception of only four; the Sefer before us is one of them (see Rabbi Bezalel Landau z”l, HaGaon HeChassid miVilna, p. 51). “The Sefarim in which the approbation of the Gaon of Vilna was printed are exceedingly rare” (ibid., p. 61). [2], 117 leaves. 19 cm. Most leaves are in good–fair condition. Water stains in the margins of all leaves. Tears on the title page and in the opening leaves, repaired with paper fill. New leather binding.
