Postcard in the holy handwriting of the Admor, the holy Rabbi Shalom of Shotz–London, and his son, Ha'Gaon Ha'Tzaddik Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov – London, Tishrei 1950. ”יתברך בגמר חתימה טובה ושנה טובה ומבורכת בטוב” The first part of the postcard is written in the handwriting of Ha'Gaon Ha'Tzaddik Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov, son of the holy Rabbi of Shotz. In the postcard, he pleads for assistance in obtaining an exit permit for one of the granddaughters of the holy Rabbi of Shotz, named Miriam, so that she could leave the country where she was living to travel to London and meet her revered grandfather. At the end of the postcard, the holy Rabbi of Shotz added several lines in his holy handwriting, containing blessings for the new year. The Admor, the holy Rabbi Shalom Moskowitz of Shotz [1878–1958], descendant of the holy dynasties of Zlotshov and Premishlan, was one of the great Rebbes of the post-Holocaust era. He was exceptionally knowledgeable in all areas of Torah and a great halachic authority who issued practical rulings. In his youth, he was ordained by the Maharsham of Brezhan and studied practical halacha under him. He became renowned for his powerful prayers that brought salvation. A devoted Chassid of the Belz dynasty, he served as Rabbi of Shotz from 1903, and in 1927, he moved to London, where he became deeply revered across all circles and communities. In his will he promised to arouse mercy in Heaven for anyone who would visit his grave, light two candles for the elevation of his soul, and accept upon themselves to strengthen in Mitzvah observance or Torah study [this promise is inscribed at his holy gravesite in three languages and hung on the wall, in accordance with his will]. Ha'Gaon Ha'Tzaddik Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Moskowitz , son of the holy Rabbi of Shotz, was a brilliant Torah scholar and a man of many talents. In his youth, he studied in Yeshivat Chachmei Lublin, where he became deeply attached to his two great teachers, Rabbi Meir Shapiro and Rabbi Shmuel Zelig Zilberberg. He passed away during his father’s lifetime, on 7 Tevet 1954. After his passing, his work She’erit Yaakov (London, 1957) was published on the weekly Torah Parshiot with Chiddushim on Talmudic topics, showing his extraordinary genius as well as his remarkable insights in Chassidut and Avodat Hashem. In the introduction to the Sefer, his father, the holy Rabbi of Shotz, wrote wondrous words about his son’s holiness:  וזאת נחמתי בעניי ב”ה שקיים פרייה ורבייה בקדושה יתירה כי היה ב”ה גדול וקדוש בזה העניין הרם נטירת ברית קודש, והניח אחריו זרע קודש ב”ה Postcard. 14 cm.
