The Gaon Tzaddik Rabbi Yeshaya Asher Zelig Margaliot (1893–1969)  – renowned kabbalist and one of the leaders of the Kana’im in Jerusalem. He studied in Yeshivat Torat Emet – Lubavitch in Hebron, and became very close to the tzaddikim of Jerusalem: the holy Rabbi Avraham Simcha Horowitz of Barnov, the kabbalist Rabbi Chaim Shaul HaKohen Dweck, and the Saba Kadisha Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Alfandari. He was deeply attached to the grave of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in Meron and authored several works connected to Rashbi and Lag BaOmer. Rabbi Yeshaya Asher Zelig was among the foremost fighters against the innovators and Zionists, and is remembered to this day for his activities.
