Letter of blessings, signed in the holy handwriting of the Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Elimelech of Karlin, HY”D. Undated. In this letter of blessings, the Rebbe of Karlin confirms that he received from the esteemed Chassid Rabbi Aharon Haltowski a sum for charity, as handed over by the Chassid Rabbi Yehoshua Kreuss. The Rebbe blesses him: ויתברך מפי עליון המבורך לעולם ועד, בשפע ברכה והצלחה בכל עניניו, וימלא ד' כל משאלות לבו לטובה ולברכה כאשר עם לבבו ולבב הדו”ש וטובו מברכו בכל טוב The Rebbe further adds in his own pen: ובחג כשר ושמח, אברהם אלימלך בהה”ק זצ”ל His full signature in his holy handwriting, together with the additional blessings. The holy Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Elimelech of Karlin (1892–1943) was the son of the Rebbe Rabbi Yisrael of Karlin [the “Yenuka”] and the successor to his father in Stolin and Karlin. From across Volhynia multitudes streamed to his court. He founded a great yeshiva with hundreds of students and was greatly revered by the Gedolei Yisroel. His disciple, the holy Rebbe Rabbi Moshe Mordechai of Lelov, described him as “the Baal Shem Tov of our generation.” He visited the Holy Land four times—1925, 1928, 1933, and 1939—leaving his distinct mark upon it. On his last visit, on the eve of World War II, he openly warned of the heavy clouds looming over Europe. Despite urgent pleas from his followers in the Holy Land, he returned to his community and his Chassidim. He was murdered Al Kiddush Hashem in Europe in Cheshvan 1943. [1] Small letter-paper. Scribe’s hand. With additional blessings and the Rebbe’s full autograph. Light folding marks. Time stain. Very good condition.
