With the signatures of the Gaon Rabbi Wolf HaLevi Boskowitz, and of Dr. Michael Sachs (who also signed his Hebrew name: יחיאל מיזאק). With ownership inscriptions and signatures of Rabbi Moshe son of Rabbi Shlomo Leib Koider and Rabbi Avraham Frottenmalo, and with library stamps from Berlin. Rabbi Yehudah ben Yosef Moscato (c.1530–1589) – rabbi, philosopher, poet, and musician, one of the greatest Darshanim of Italy, with broad knowledge of languages and history, known as “the Moscato.” Disciple of Rabbi Moshe Provenzali. Author of the popular commentary Kol Yehudah on the Kuzari. His collection of sermons Nefutzot Yehudah, is notable for its eloquent style and logical structure, and generations of Darshanim drew upon it. The Gaon Rabbi Binyamin Ze’ev Wolf HaLevi Boskowitz (c.1740–1818) – renowned rabbi, kabbalist and miracle worker, Av Beit Din and Rosh Yeshiva in the communities of Esztergom, Prostějov, Óbuda, Pest, Balassagyarmat, Kolín and Bonyhád, author of Seder Mishnah on the Rambam and many other works. Son of Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Kaidanover, author of Machatzit HaShekel. Rabbi Moshe Koider – son of the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Leib Koider of Prague, who succeeded his father as rabbi of the Kloiz in Prague. As recorded in the ownership inscription in this copy, his father served as Av Beit Din of Daldy and the regions of Tábor and Budweis in Bohemia (from 1818). From 1835, he served as Av Beit Din of Prague. Author of Shu”t Olat Shmuel and the sermons Ahavat Emet, published together with Peulat Emet. Rabbi Yechiel Michel Sachs (1808–1864) – rabbi, dayan, and Baal Darshan in Prague and Berlin, one of the first Jews to receive a degree from a modern university. Engaged in research and translation of the poetry of Spanish Jewry, and translated the High Holiday prayerbook into German. He strongly opposed the Reform movement. His sermons were published in two volumes. Handsome new binding. Stains and worming. Good condition.
