The Siddur of the Holy Admor the Makor Baruch of Seret-Vizhnitz – His Most Beloved Siddur, in Which He Found Comfort After the Passing of His Brother-in-Law, the Holy Rabbi Aharon of Belz zy”a – With Glosses and Notes in His Holy Handwriting! Siddur Or HaYashar – Jerusalem 1957, published by “Ma’ayan HaChochma” (facsimile of the 1928 edition with many additions). At the beginning of the Siddur, the publisher, the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Yehoshua Segal Deutsch of Katamon, added a lengthy Kuntres entitled VeRe’eh Yashar, a large compilation of teachings from the Tzaddikim of the Belz dynasty on matters of prayer. On the front guard leaf is a stamp: “Baruch Hager, son of the Tzaddik Rabbi Yisrael OBM, of Vizhnitz – Haifa, Ramat Vizhnitz.” The extraordinary attachment of the Makor Baruch to the words of the holy Tzaddikim of Belz is well known. Already from the time he became a son-in-law (second marriage) of the Mahari”d of Belz in 1914, he became deeply bound to him, and all his life his soul was connected to his with supreme attachment. The Siddur Or HaYashar of Rabbi Meir Paprish was beloved by the Tzaddikim of Belz, and was printed by their command several times. Hence, the special dearness of the Siddur before us to the Makor Baruch, all the more so with the addition of the extensive Kuntres VeRe’eh Yashar, filled with important teachings from the Tzaddikim of Belz, particularly from the Mahari”d of Belz. In this Kuntres appear several notes and glosses in the holy handwriting of the Makor Baruch. Also, at the beginning of the Siddur, there is a handwritten reference: “Regarding Shemini Atzeret, ” pointing to a section in the Kuntres. This Siddur was printed close to the time of the passing of his brother-in-law, the holy Rabbi Aharon of Belz zy”a. A lengthy and moving letter sent by the Makor Baruch to the publisher of this Siddur, the Gaon Tzaddik Rabbi Yehoshua Segal Deutsch of Katamon, dated 27 Tishrei 1957, expresses the deep emotions of his heart about the precious Siddur, which he received as a gift: את המתנה החשובה עלי ביותר... קבלתי. מאד מאד נהנתי מהסידור ובפרט מהקונטרס 'וראה ישר'. בפרט עכשיו אחר האסון הנורא [הסתלקות מוהר”א מבעלזא זי”ע] שקרה לנו ולכל העולם ר”ל, אשר עד עתה לא מצאתי שום נחמה עדיין. מאד לבי נשבר לרסיסים על האי צדיק יסוד עולם שנאבד מאתנו. ובלי שום ספק ימצאו כמה אלפי אנשים איזה נחמה מהדיבורים הקדושים שבקונטרס הנ”ל ['וראה ישר']. עבורי היא חשיבות יתירה כי יש איזשהו מאמרים ששמעתי באזני מן האי סבא קדישא זצ”ל” [מהרי”ד מבעלזא]” In the continuation of the letter he writes about one of the awe-inspiring and exalted sayings printed in the Kuntres on the subject of the Akeidah, in the name of his father-in-law the Mahari”d, which he recalls hearing from him, and when and where it was said: “This statement I heard from his holy mouth in Ratzfert on the eve of Yom Kippur, in his home, before he went to the Beis Hakneset.” He tells how one of the prominent Rabbis who was present in the room with him at that time was so moved and shaken that “he wept loudly like a child.” This moving letter was printed in the Sefer Tzintzenet HaMan, by Rabbi David Zilbershlag (Haifa, 2015), p. 365ff. The Holy Rabbi Baruch Hager, the Makor Baruch (1895–1963) – founder of the Seret-Vizhnitz Chassidic dynasty and member of the Mo’etzet Gedolei HaTorah of Agudat Yisrael, son of the Admor Rabbi Yisrael Hager, author of Ahavat Yisrael. He received semichah from the Gaon Rabbi Meir Arik, and served as Rabbi in Poland, Kuczman, and Seret. In 1947, he ascended to Eretz Yisrael and established his Beit Midrash in Haifa.
