From the Treasury of the Holy Rabbi Yisrael of Husiatyn! Mishnayot Zeraim with the Commentaries of Rabbi Ovadia of Bartenura, Tiferet Yisrael, and Ikar Tosafot Yom Tov – Warsaw, 1873 – With a Short Gloss in the Holy Handwriting of the Holy Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn On the title page appears the stamp: “Library of Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn.” On leaf 130/2 there is a short gloss in the handwriting of Rabbi Yisrael of Husiatyn: “Magen Avraham Siman 244, Se’if Katan 6.” A number of glosses written in pen may be in the handwriting of his son-in-law, the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Friedman of Husiatyn, author of Oholei Yaakov. On the guard leaf, there is a pencil signature in childish handwriting of his great-grandson, R. Mordechai Shraga Bauminger. Most of the glosses written in pencil in childish script are in the handwriting of his great-grandson, R. Mordechai Shraga Bauminger (the son of the daughter of his son-in-law, the Oholei Yaakov), in his childhood. The Holy Rabbi Yisrael of Husiatyn, elder of the righteous of the generation [1858–1949], the pillar of prayer of Israel, who was called by the Holy Rabbi Aharon of Belz “the Tzaddik Yesod Olam” and “the Rebbe.” All the righteous of the generations called after him “Holy, Holy.” He was especially known for his battle, the hidden holy war, and his holy service at the time when the Nazis under General Rommel began to approach Eretz Yisrael in the battles of El-Alamein.
