Eighteen Pages in the Holy Handwriting of the Author of Arvei Nachal – The Holy Gaon Rabbi David Shlomo Eibeschitz Before us is a copy, written in Rashi script, of part of the Sefer 'Shimelah Chadashah' by the author of Tevuot Shor, in the holy handwriting of the author of Arvei Nachal. It is known that his composition on the laws of shechitah revolves around and follows the words of the Tevuot Shor in his Shimelah Chadashah on the laws of shechitah. The Holy Gaon Rabbi David Shlomo Eibeschitz (1755–1814), among the great figures of Chassidut and among the foremost halachic authorities. He served as Av Beit Din of Soroka. In 1809, he ascended to Eretz Yisrael and settled in the holy city of Safed, where he is buried. The holy Rabbi of Berditchev wrote of him in his approbation to his Sefer Levushei Serad: ”חריף ובקי בחדרי תורה כחד מן קמאי וכל מעשיו לשם שמים”. He authored numerous works, among them his renowned halachic composition Levushei Serad. His Sefer Arvei Nachal became one of the foundational works of Chassidic thought.
