Letter of emissary appointment (Shtar Shadarut) from the rabbis of Kollel Austria and Kollel Volhynia in Safed, to a wealthy benefactor in Berlin – signed by the righteous Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Heller, Av Beit Din of Safed, and the righteous Gaon Rabbi Avraham Weiss of Munkatch (grandfather of the Imrei Yosef of Spinka) – Safed, Sivan 1857. The righteous Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Heller (1786–1884) – Av Beit Din of Safed, a Gaon and Chassid. In his youth, he grew up in the home of the Chozeh of Lublin, received blessings from his holy mouth many times, and even merited to be among those who ate at his Seder table. Following his advice, he ascended to the Holy Land in the 1810s. He was miraculously saved after being gravely injured in the great earthquake that struck Safed in 1837. After the passing of his master, the holy Rabbi Avraham Dov of Ovruch, the Bat Ayin, he was appointed Ashkenazi Rabbi of Safed, a position he held for about forty years. He was also renowned for his vast knowledge of medicine and pharmacy, and provided healing and remedies to the Jews of Safed. The righteous Gaon Rabbi Avraham Weiss of Munkatch (1793–1860) – orphaned of his parents at the age of two, he was raised in the home of the holy Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of Kaliv, who became his primary teacher. During his lifetime, he wrote many Torah novellae, but they were lost. In 1852, he immigrated to the Holy Land and lived in Safed, later moving in his final years to Tiberias, where he was appointed as one of the Dayanim of the Ashkenazi Beit Din, and where he was laid to rest. His son, the righteous Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Tzvi, was the father of the Imrei Yosef of Spinka. Another of his sons was the famous Gaon, author of Beit Yitzchak, Av Beit Din of Svaliava. [1] leaf. 27 cm.
