Sefer Siddrei Taharot [Part I], a compilation of all the sayings of Chazal on the laws of Taharot from the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmuds, Midrashim, Zohar, and more—on Seder Taharot, Tractate Kelim, with both long and short commentaries. Authored by the holy Rabbi Gershon Chanoch Henoch Leiner, Av Beit Din of Radzin. Printed by Shlomo and Baruch Seltzer and Yechezkel Renner, Józefów, 1873. First edition. [5], 272, [1] leaves. With important approbations by the great sages of Israel, including: Rabbi Shimon Sofer Av Beit Din of Krakow, Rabbi Yisrael Yehoshua Av Beit Din of Kutno, Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Orenshtein Av Beit Din of Brisk, Rabbi Chaim Eliezer Kalish Av Beit Din of Kalish, Rabbi Chaim Berlin Av Beit Din of Moscow, Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Av Beit Din of Kovno, and more. On the final leaf is a folded map titled 'זאת תהיה לכם הארץ לגבלתיה סביב' with the author’s stamp: ”גרשון חנוך הענוך לינער בהרב הגאון הקדוש מאיזבצא שליט''א'' On the errata page, an additional slip was pasted with [4] lines of corrections. Background: In this Sefer, the author gathered all Talmudic material on Taharot from Bavli, Yerushalmi, Midrashim, and Zohar, beginning the project of publishing a full work on Seder Taharot in the layout and format of the Babylonian Talmud. Because it was printed in the familiar Talmudic style, the work aroused great controversy in its time; many leading sages opposed it out of fear that in later generations it might be mistaken for part of Shas Bavli. To calm the opposition, the author printed the second part in a different format, with “Sefer Siddrei Taharot” printed at the top of every page, and at the bottom a notice stating that the work was “collected from the words of the Tannaim and Amoraim z”l.” Thus, the storm subsided. It is accepted that this monumental project was completed on the entire Seder Taharot, but most was lost with the passage of time. The holy Rabbi Gershon Chanoch Henoch Leiner, the Radziner Rebbe (1839–1890), known as Ba’al HaTechelet, collected and published the works of his grandfather, the holy Rabbi of Izhbitza, 'Mei HaShiloach'. He is especially renowned for reviving the mitzvah of Ptil Techelet on tzitzit, restoring it to halachic and public discourse. He was known as a wonder-worker, holy and pure, serving as Admor of Radzin–Izhbitza, with tens of thousands flocking to his court to receive from his Torah, holiness, and blessings. The young Chassid Rabbi Yitzchak, son of Rabbi Naftali Hertz Glickman,   one of the Chassidim of the Radziner Rebbe. His lineage, recorded on the rear flyleaf of this exemplar, traces back to Rabbi Yonah Menachem Nachum Katz, Av Beit Din of Sochaczew (brother of the Gaon, the Shach), and to his father-in-law, Rabbi Shmuel Kaidenover, the Maharsha”k, Av Beit Din of Krakow, author of Birkat HaZevach, Birkat Shmuel, and Tiferet Shmuel.
