Stains, fair–good condition. * [1] printed form, license to officiate weddings, from the Marriage Department of the Jerusalem Religious Council. Printed form with details filled in by hand. Issued to “HaRav Y. Shalom Elyashiv.” Jerusalem, 1953. Maran Posek HaDor Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv (1910–2012) – born to Rabbi Avraham and the daughter of Rabbeinu the Leshem. From youth, he never parted from his great-grandfather’s side. In 1924, he immigrated with his family to Eretz HaKodesh and resided all his life in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem. He served as Dayan in the Supreme Rabbinical Court. He became the son-in-law of the Jerusalem Gaon, Rabbi Aryeh Levin. Renowned for his extraordinary diligence throughout his life without pause. From all over the world, halachic queries were directed to him daily. In time, he became the foremost Posek of his generation and one of the greatest leaders of Orthodox Jewry.
