Sefer Or Torah, by Rabbi Menachem de Lonzano – Amsterdam, 1659 – With the Signature of Rabbi Avraham HaLevi of Chelm, Av Beit Din of Emden, and Ownership Inscription of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Oppenheim, Av Beit Din of Timișoara Sefer Or Torah is a work on the text of the Masorah. This composition first appeared as part of the Sefer Shtei Yadot, printed in Venice, 1618, and here it was printed for the first time as an independent work. On the title page is a blurred signature:  ”אלקי' חנן בזה הספר אותי הק' אברהם הלוי מחעלמא” On the guard leaf is an ownership inscription: ”הרבני המופלא מוהר”ר הירש אופנהיים” Rabbi Avraham HaLevi of Chelm, Av Beit Din of Emden , was among the great Rabbis of his generation. He succeeded Rabbi Yaakov Emden as Rabbi of Emden (approximately 1750–1760). He is mentioned in several responsa works, including those of the Noda BiYehuda. The signer, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Oppenheim , appears to be Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Oppenheim (1793–1859), son of Rabbi David Oppenheim, Av Beit Din of Almas and Timișoara, and his successor in the rabbinate of Timișoara. He was one of the leading opponents of the Reform movement in Hungary (see more about him in Ishim BeTeshuvot Chasam Sofer, Bnei Brak, 1993, pp. 345–347). 27 leaves. 18.5 cm. Good condition. Stains.
