[4], 208, 9, [4] pp. With an inscription in the handwriting of the author’s grandson, Rabbi Elchanan son of Rabbi David Halperin:  'לידו המעולה של מע”כ המה”ג אבד”ק ירושלם ת”ו' The great Gaon, pillar of halachic ruling, Rabbi Shmuel Engel of Radomyshl (1853–1935) – one of the foremost Posekim in Galicia, who sent hundreds of halachic responsa across Europe. Served as Av Beit Din of Kashoy. A leading disciple of Maran the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, and foremost disciple of the Shoel U’Meishiv, the Torat Chesed, and the Derech HaMelech. Rabbi Shmuel Engel was renowned for his clear halachic rulings and responsa, marked by profound analysis, clarity, and extraordinary breadth. The great leaders of the generation revered him and trembled at his words. The pious Gaon Rabbi Elchanan Halperin [Rabbi Chuna Heilperin] (1921–2015) – Rabbi of the Golders Green neighborhood in London and president of the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations. Av Beit Din of Radomyshl, in the name of his grandfather’s rabbinate and his foremost teacher, the holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Engel. He studied under his grandfather, Rabbi Shmuel Engel, and under Rabbi Yisrael Shmuel Klein (son-in-law of Rabbi Shimon Sofer). At the age of 14, he wrote a letter to Rabbi Yosef Rozin (the Rogatchover), who, in his reply, addressed him as “Harav Hagaon.” He was close to Rabbi Shalom Moskowitz of Shotz, and after the war became attached to the Gaon of Tchebin, whom he regarded as his primary teacher. He was close to many Rebbes. In his youth, he visited the courts of Rabbi Chana Halberstam of Koloshitz and Rabbi Avraham Shalom Halberstam of Stropkov, who lived in Kashoy. After the war, he was associated with several Rebbes, especially the holy Rabbi of Klausenburg and the holy Rabbi Yitzikel of Pshevorsk. He merited to become related by marriage to many of the great tzaddikim of the generation. His sons-in-law were the holy Rebbes of Nadvorna Haifa, Makova, Chernobyl, and the Rosh Yeshiva of Tchebin. His sons also married into families of the great tzaddikim. His son, Rabbi Yitzchak Leibush, continues his path in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem and is related by marriage to the Rebbes of Sanz and Chernobyl. Plain binding, stains, good condition.
