The holy Rabbi Elimelech of Grodzisk (1824–1892) was among the great Tzaddikim of Poland in his generation, of exalted lineage. Son of the fiery Rabbi Chaim Meir Yechiel Shapira of Mogelnica. In his youth, he was influenced by the Tzaddikim of the generation: Rabbi Yissachar Ber of Radoshitz, Rabbi Natan David of Shidlovtza, and Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, to whom he continued traveling even after assuming leadership as Rebbe. He became renowned across the land as a lofty Tzaddik and a wonder-worker, devoting himself to the welfare of the Jewish people in exile. He was the father of Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapira of Piaseczno and of Rabbi Yeshayahu Shapira, the “Pioneer Rebbe.” Rabbi Yitzchak, son of Ptachya Gerstenkorn (1891–1961) – founder and first mayor of Bnei Brak. A follower of Rabbi Shimon of Skernovitz and a student in the yeshivot of Lida and Radin. In 1921, he established the Bayit VeNachala association, later purchased land in Eretz Yisrael, and in 1924 immigrated with a group of families to found the settlement of Bnei Brak. He served as head of the settlement and then as its first mayor until 1955. He devoted himself to public service and authored many books, including commentaries on Shir HaShirim and Tehillim, a work on the Chazon Ish, memoirs of Bnei Brak, and more. Light stains. Final page mounted to a backing sheet, covering an illustration of a vase and flowers, but not affecting the text.
