Letter of Recommendation by Marah DeAra Kadisha Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund, in His Handwriting and with His Signature ”Knowing him and recognizing him, I testify that he is an upright man, trustworthy and reliable” – a recommendation written by Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund on behalf of a Sofer sta”m from the Satmar community. Jerusalem, 1951. [1] leaf, in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Freund, mounted on thick paper, alongside his photograph. Marah DeAra Kadisha Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund (1904–1996) – Gaavad (Chief Rabbi) of Jerusalem and of the Edah HaChareidis, Rosh Yeshiva of the Satmar Yeshiva in Jerusalem, grandson of the Av Beit Din of Hunyad. A lofty and holy Chassid, a wonder-worker, from whose blessings many benefited. He endured the horrors of the Holocaust with unwavering faith and spiritual greatness. The righteous of the generation greatly extolled his stature. Minor tears and small defects at the top of the leaf, good condition.
