Certificate awarded to a student upon completion of the first division during the winter term at the Beit HaTalmud Yesodei HaTorah in the Pressburg community. With the stamp of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Onsdorfer, and with multiple signatures, including the signature of Rabbi Yirmiya Dushinsky. [1] leaf, printed certificate with handwritten details, bearing the stamp of the Yesodei HaTorah society of Pressburg, the seal of the director Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Onsdorfer, the signatures of the gabbai R. Azriel Meir Engel and another gabbai, the teacher’s signature, and the signature of the examiner, Rabbi Yirmiya Dushinsky. The ”Director” Rabbi Shlomo Zalman b. Mordechai Aryeh Onsdorfer HY”D (1887–1944) – Maggid Meisharim in Pressburg and rabbi of the Mevakshei Torah congregation. A disciple of Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky in the Galanta yeshiva and of Rabbi Akiva Sofer, Av Beit Din of Pressburg. He devoted his life to Torah study and teaching, inspiring fear of Heaven, and turning many from sin with his fiery sermons. His writings on Aggadah, Mussar, and inspiration on the Torah and Pirkei Avot were discovered after the Holocaust and published as Siftei Shlomo (1972) and Siftei Shlomo HaShalem (2008). He was murdered in Auschwitz. His son, Rabbi Shmuel Alexander Onsdorfer, was the father-in-law of the Rebbe of Sanz. The Gabbai R. Azriel Meir Engel – served as gabbai of Yesodei HaTorah for ten years and was one of the leaders of the community for six years. He also served as the first gabbai of the Chevra Kadisha, founded and managed a hospital, established a study hall for Yesodei HaTorah, and founded the funeral hall at the cemetery. In his will, he requested to be buried as a “simple man, ” yet thousands accompanied his funeral. 'The Examiner' Rabbi Yirmiya Dushinsky – of Pressburg and later Jerusalem, son-in-law (in both first and second marriages) of Rabbi Moshe Neuschloss, Av Beit Din and Rosh Yeshiva of Serdehaly and later Rav of New Square. Condition: Fold marks, small tears and wear along fold lines, stains. Good condition.
