Letter by Rabbi Mordechai Aharon Fishman, to Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Henkin, requesting assistance for a wedding in the family of a Jerusalem Torah scholar, Gaon, sharp, Kabbalist, and head of the Rabbinical Court [Adas HaChassidim], from the Old City of Jerusalem. Jerusalem, 1944. ”I will find myself happy if Your Honor will notify me how much you sent for this wedding, and my heart will also rejoice” – a request of Rabbi Mordechai Aharon Fishman to assist in the expenses of the wedding of the family of a Jerusalem Torah scholar. This letter was sent as a continuation to a letter that Rabbi Halperin from Jerusalem sent, on the same subject. Rabbi Mordechai Aharon son of Rabbi Avraham Moshe Shmuel Fishman (ca. 1883–1961) – from the elders and great Chassidim of Boyan, and a descendant of R. Lieber the Great of Berdichev. Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu Henkin (1881–1973) – from the great Poskim in the United States, a disciple of Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer in the Yeshiva of Slutsk. He served as rabbi and Rosh Yeshiva in various communities in Europe. In 1923, he immigrated to New York and, from 1925, served as secretary and director of the organization Ezras Torah for about 50 years. He supported multitudes of Torah scholars in the Land of Israel and abroad. Filing holes and small defects near them with damage to several words, fold mark, light stains, fair-good condition.
