“Exampler of the author of Shearei Torah, ” Sefer Chiddushei Rabbeinu Aharon Halevi – HaRa’ah, on Tractate Ketubot. First edition. Prague, Press of the Grandchildren of Yehuda Bak, 1722. On the title page: ”חנני אלקים בס' הלז נאום הק' ב' וואלף” – signature of the Gaon Rabbi Binyamin Wolf Löw. On leaf 2, an additional signature: ”אברהם שאג” 59 leaves. The Holy Gaon Rabbi Binyamin Wolf Löw (1737–1851), author of Shearei Torah, Av Beis Din of Verbó. Son of the Holy Gaon Rabbi Elazar Löw, author of Shemen Rokeach (1758–1837). He served in the rabbinate in several cities in Poland, Bohemia, and Hungary. A renowned Gaon, among the greats of the generation of the Chasam Sofer and Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Many of the Gedolei Yisrael were his disciples, among them the author of Machaneh Chaim and Kol Aryeh. He left behind writings in all areas of Torah, from which his well-known Sefarim Shearei Torah were printed. Water stains, original binding, overall good condition.
