With dozens of glosses by Rabbi Shmuel Freund, in his handwriting, throughout the Sefer; some are lengthy glosses. Rabbi David Ben Rabbi Shlomo Ibn Yahya (1440–1504), grammarian and Darshan among the sages of Portugal. Served as Rav in Lisbon. He was persecuted by the King of Portugal and fled to Naples after being denounced for assisting Anusim to return to Judaism. He was exiled to the island of Corfu and, after many hardships, arrived in Turkey. Author of Kav VeNaki on Mishlei, Lashon Limudim, Shekel HaKodesh, and additional works. Rabbi Shmuel Ben Rabbi Yissachar Freund (1794–1881), Dayan and Tzaddik, among the Gedolei Torah of his generation. Served as Rav in Lobositz and in Bohemia, and as Dayan and Av Beis Din of the Prague community. Author of Ir HaTzedek, Zera Kodesh, Keren Shmuel, and additional works. His glosses on the Rishonim to the Mishnayot of Seder Zera’im and Taharot were printed in the Vilna Shas. Among the foremost opponents of the Reform movement.
