From the treasured archives of the Bas Ayin! With his exceedingly rare stamp: ”אברהם דוב מזיטמר” Manuscript, Kabbalistic interpretation on the Piyyut “Chad Gadya, ” by Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl, the primary Rebbe of the Bas Ayin—the personal exampler of his disciple, Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Avraham Dov, Av Beis Din of Avritch and Zhitomir. 1837–1841. With an exceptionally rare stamp used by him in his later years. A stamp scarcely encountered at auction. The interpretation presented here by Harav HaKadosh of Chernobyl on the Piyyut “Chad Gadya” was first printed in his Sefer Likutei Torah, published in 1859. From the time of his passing in Iyar 1837 until the printing of his Sefer in 1859, his writings circulated in manuscript. The present manuscript is a copy sent to Safed to his disciple, Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Avraham Dov, Av Beis Din of Avritch and Zhitomir, in his later years. At the beginning of the copy, the name of the author, Harav HaKadosh of Chernobyl, is already mentioned with a blessing of life, indicating that this copy was made between the 20th of Iyar 1837 (the passing of Harav HaKadosh of Chernobyl) and December 1841 (the passing of the author of Bas Ayin). At the beginning of the manuscript appear two of his stamps, with two additional stamps at the end. The stamp present here is exceedingly rare! (Only one other document is known, from Shevat 1837, bearing this stamp.) In most (or all) of his signatures, he signed with the name of his first rabbinic post, Avritch. In contrast, in the rare stamp before us, he signs with the name of his second rabbinic post, Zhitomir, where he served as rabbi during the years 1825–1830. [9] leaves. 16 cm. Fair condition.
