Signatures in His Holy Handwriting of Rabbi Eliezer Papo, author of Pele Yoetz. Sefer Yam Shel Shlomo on Tractate Yevamot, by Rabbeinu Shlomo Luria (the Maharshal). Altona, 1740. On the title page appear two signatures of the author of Pela Yoetz: ”אליעזר פאפו” The Kabbalist Rabbi Eliezer Ben Reb Yitzchak Papo (1786–1827), author of the Musar classic Pele Yoetz and additional works. He studied in the yeshivot of Sarajevo (Bosnia) and was a disciple of Rabbi Moshe Danon. After his marriage, he served as Rav and head of the Sephardic community in Silistra (Bulgaria), and later as head of the Sephardic community in Bucharest. Additional signatures on the title page: ”יצחק בכ”ר יעקב הלוי”; ”... הק' יונה... ” [1], 93, [2] leaves. 32 cm. Good to fair condition. Stains and wear. Tears to the title page. Old binding, worn at the edges.
