Mantua, 1612 — first edition. Shiltei HaGibborim, by Rabbi Avraham HaRofeh Ben Reb David of Shar Aryeh, “Avir HaRof’im.” Mantua, 1612. With stamps of the holy Rebbe “Moshe Yechiel Elimelech Rabinowitz Partzev.” 12, 103, [2], 106–124, [1], 126–130, [1], 132–186 leaves. With [3] additional title pages: “HaMagen HaRishon, ” “HaMagen HaSheni, ” and “HaMagen HaShelishi.” With the stamps of the Admor of Lubartow. Rabbi Moshe Yechiel Elimelech Rabinowitz HY”D of Lubartow (1895–27 Sivan 1941), son of the holy Rebbe Rabbi Natan David of Partzev, of the dynasty of the Yehudi HaKadosh. A renowned Tzaddik, grandson of the Divrei Binah of Biala, and son-in-law of his uncle Rabbi Yisrael, the Admor of Grodzisk, author of Emunat Yisrael, of the Kozhnitz–Moglitzah dynasty. From a young age he merited revelations and lofty spiritual levels, and began composing booklets titled Mi Amar (an acronym for Moshe Yechiel Elimelech Rabinowitz). In 1930 he was appointed Admor in Lubartow in the Lublin region, and many Chassidim began to flock to him. He authored many Sefarim, including: Maamar Shemiras HaDaas (Warsaw, 1927), Vayomer Moshe on the Torah (Warsaw, 1927), Vayedaber Moshe (Warsaw, 1927–1928), the Siddur Avodat HaLev (Warsaw, 1928), Vayomer Moshe on Nach (Warsaw, 1930), and more. At the outbreak of World War II, the Nazis sought to capture the Rebbe, and he was smuggled to Lublin. He later managed to reach Demtshaba, then under Russian occupation. The Rebbe of Lubartow and his eldest son were murdered HY”D by the Germans immediately upon their conquest of the city. His two younger children were taken to the Warsaw Ghetto and were murdered HY”D. Rebound, with gilt lettering. Wormholes and stains. Tape repairs. Fair condition.
