A letter filled with Torah Chiddushim in the handwriting of the Holy Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Winkler, “Der Heilige Mader Rav, ” sent to the Torah Rav Rabbi Tzvi Pinchas HaKohen Moskowitz, including Chiddushim in the Halachos of Taharah. Mád, 1929. 19 lines in his holy handwriting, with his full signature. Rabbi Hersh Pinchas HaKohen Moskowitz, “a precious stone in the holy community of Satmar, ” was among the greatest of those close to the holy Tzaddikim of Munkacs, Satmar, and Shotz. An outstanding disciple of the Gedolei Hungary. A close associate and relative of the holy Gaon of Bilgoray. In later years he immigrated to Eretz HaKodesh and became one of the founders of the Batei Munkacs neighborhood and among the finest communal leaders of the Eidah HaChareidis in the holy city of Jerusalem. The holy Gaon, “Mader Rav, ” Rabbi Mordechai Leib Winkler (1845–1932), disciple of Maran the Kesav Sofer in the Yeshiva of Pressburg. He served as Av Beis Din and Rosh Yeshiva in the town of Mád in Hungary. Author of the series of Sefarim of responsa Levushei Mordechai and additional Sefarim. Among the pillars of Halachic authority in Hungary and one of the great responders of his generation. From among his thousands of disciples emerged outstanding Torah scholars and rabbinic authorities for the multitudes, among them Rabbi Mordechai Brisk, author of Shu”t Maharam Brisk, and Rabbi David Yehuda Silberstein, Av Beis Din of Vaytsen.
