One of the last signatures of the holy Gaon, author of Lev Ha'Ivri, Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger, in thanks for a charitable remittance – 1921. The letter was written by his son, the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Schlesinger, in which he expresses profound thanks to the Torah public activist Rabbi Uri Pelshin, of the Rabbanim of Manhattan, for sending a large sum for Tzedakah, in order to support and sustain the holy Tzaddik, the Lev Ha'Ivri, himself. Adar 1921. “The Mitzvah is worthy to protect you with a thousand shields, and in all to which he turns he shall be wise and succeed.” He signs in his name: 'אליהו שלעזינגער בן הרב הגאון הצדיק המפורסם בעל המחבר ספר 'לב העברי' Beneath this, the Lev Ha'Ivri himself adds a signature in his weakness , yet it is clearly discernible. The famous holy Gaon Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger, author of Lev Ha'Ivri (1837–1922), disciple of his father Rabbi Yechiel, among the disciples of Maran the Chasam Sofer, and disciple of the Kesav Sofer, the Maharam Schick, and the Machaneh Chaim. Son-in-law of the holy Gaon Rabbi Hillel L”sh of Kolomyya. He ascended to Eretz HaKodesh and labored for its settlement in purity of holiness.
