Postcard from the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Sokolovsky, Author of Imrei Moshe, Rosh Yeshiva of “Toras Chesed” in Brisk – Sent to the Directors of the “Vaad HaYeshivos.” Cheshvan 1930 The postcard was written several weeks before his sudden passing. In the present postcard the Imrei Moshe writes “regarding the celebration which was conducted with great splendor, ” apparently referring to the Chanukas HaBayis celebration of the Yeshiva in Brisk. In the postcard, he reports about the Rabbanim who honored the event with their presence, as well as the renowned Gaonim who sent letters of blessing for the occasion, among them “HaGaon HaTzaddik the Chafetz Chaim, ” and also “a blessing was received from Maran HaGaon Reb Chaim Ozer, shlit”a.” He asks the leadership of the Vaad HaYeshivos to publish these letters of blessing in the Charedi newspapers. The author of Imrei Moshe, the renowned Gaon Rabbi Moshe Sokolovsky (1868–1931), was among the leading Gaonim of Lithuania. A disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, he headed the Yeshiva Toras Chesed in Brisk together with the Dayan, the Gaon Rabbi Simcha Zelig Rieger. His Sefer Imrei Moshe became widely studied in the Yeshivos. Good condition. Filing holes.
