Four large pages in His Holy Handwriting of HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Kluger – Chiddushim on matters of Yoreh De’ah – including a copied responsum in His Holy Handwriting from what he responded to HaGaon Rabbi Aharon Shmuel Asad “My soul has been filled with anguish, and children, life, and sustenance – all are upon me” The content in the present pages: A. Most of the first page is scribal writing, containing a copy of a responsum of HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Kluger. Only the opening line is in his handwriting, where he writes: “I will copy what I wrote on this, with the help of Hashem, to the Rabbi… Rabbi Aryeh David of the holy community of Nemitz, brother of Harav Rabbi Yosef…”. This responsum was printed in the Sefer “Tuv Taam VaDaas, ” third edition, Siman 12. B. Most of the present pages are a copied responsum which HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Kluger transcribed in His Holy Handwriting from what he responded to HaGaon Rabbi Aharon Shmuel Asad, Av Beis Din of Dunajská Streda (son of Rabbi Yehuda Asad). The responsum was printed in the responsa “She’eilas Shmuel, ” Siman 50. At the beginning of the present responsum, HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Kluger relates somewhat about himself: “I have already written to him several times that he should not trouble me with this, and he does not heed my voice… Your Honor thinks from afar that I sit in comfort without any worry, and that my mind and heart are occupied only with examining the words of others. But it is not so, for my soul is filled with anguish, and children, life, and sustenance – all are upon me, and together with my burdens and weakness of strength, therefore all his eloquence did not enter my ears…” At the beginning of his responsum, HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Kluger expresses astonishment that Rabbi Aharon Shmuel challenged his words from the Pri Chadash: “And what of it if from the Pri Chadash it is proven otherwise – am I not permitted to say otherwise, especially in a matter that is logically compelling so.” The final section was also printed in one of the volumes of his Sefer “Tuv Taam VaDaas.” HaGaon HaKadosh the Maggid of Brody, Rabbi Shlomo Yaakov Yosef Kluger (1786–1869), one of the greatest Poskim and Darshanim of his generation. He authored thousands of responsa and approximately one hundred and fifty Sefarim in all areas of Torah. He served as Av Beis Din of Kulykiv, Józefów, Maggid Meisharim in Brody, and Rav in Brody.
