Rare Broadside! “Haskes U'Shema Yisrael” — Warning by the Members of the Minsk Kollel in Jerusalem Regarding an Individual Who Improperly Obtained Signatures to a Letter of Appointment and Falsely Presented Himself as the Kollel’s Emissary. [Jerusalem], 1884. Polemic. “Have mercy, dear brethren, upon your impoverished brothers of the Kollel, and give honor to Hashem by forcefully distancing falsehood.” Broadside sent to community leaders and generous benefactors in the Minsk district, warning them about an individual who falsely represented himself as the Kollel’s Shadar and traveled abroad in an attempt to collect funds unlawfully. [Jerusalem], 1884. Rare. [1] leaf, printed on both sides, with the printed signatures of the emissaries of the Beis Din Tzedek of the Perushim Kollel and the members of the Beis Din, together with the Beis Din seal. Also bearing the printed signatures of 46 members of the Minsk Kollel in the Holy City of Jerusalem and the Kollel’s seal. The rare broadside offered here is not recorded in the National Library’s broadside collection and is not mentioned in the bibliography of Shoshana Halevi. Defects along the margins, fold marks and short tears along the fold lines, stains. Fair condition.
