Manuscript of Harav HaTzaddik Rabbi Yom Tov Lipman Rabin of Kortshin – Jerusalem. Manuscript in the handwriting of the scion of a distinguished rabbinic lineage, Rabbi Yom Tov Lipman Rabin, son of Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rabin of Kortshin, author of Shem Olam. Jerusalem, 1903. [1] leaf, written on both sides. On one side, Rabbi Yom Tov Lipman Rabin wrote a memorial prayer (Tefilat Hashkavah) for the elevation of the soul of his mother, the righteous Rebbetzin Mrs. Chana Rachel. The leaf bears various stamps of Harav HaTzaddik Rabbi Yom Tov Rabin. On the reverse appears a letter of condolence written to him upon the passing of his mother by Harav HaTzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Auerbach. It should be noted that the righteous Rebbetzin Mrs. Chana Rachel, daughter of Rabbi Yisrael Dov Lindenberg and holy wife of Harav HaTzaddik Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rabin, purchased a burial plot for herself on Har HaZeisim. Although she was ultimately buried outside Eretz Yisrael, a monument was erected on the plot she had acquired in Jerusalem, bearing her titles and recording the date of her passing in 1903. HaGaon HaKadosh Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rabin of Kortshin (1827–1877) — son of the Dayan Rabbi Tzvi Eliezer of Krakow. Disciple of HaGaon Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf of Pshevorsk, author of Meishiv KaHalachah. He attached himself to the great luminary, Maran the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, who selected him to transcribe his responsa and prepare them for publication. In recognition of his efforts, the Divrei Chaim assisted him in publishing his major work, Beis Aharon on Gittin. He received approbations from the leading Torah authorities of his generation, though he omitted the lavish honorifics with which they adorned him. His sons, Harav HaTzaddik Rabbi Menachem Mendel and Harav HaTzaddik Rabbi Yom Tov Lipman—the author of the present manuscript—immigrated to Eretz Yisrael. From them descended distinguished Jewish families, and through them, many manuscripts were preserved. Harav HaChasid Rabbi Avraham Eliezer Chaim Auerbach (1870–1906) — a resident of Safed and author of Gedulas Dovid (Krzanow, 1901). He was the brother of the wife of Rabbi Yom Tov Lipman Rabin. Fold marks, stains, professional restoration to damaged areas. Removal of adhesive paper caused several words to become faded and partially defective. Fair–good condition.
