Letter of recommendation from HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin on behalf of an ill person for medical expenses. Jerusalem, 1912. Letter from HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin to the heads of the Vaad HaKlali in Jerusalem regarding an ill person requiring treatment in a hospital abroad, with the expenses being substantial. Jerusalem, Iyar 1912 — several months before the passing of HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin. [1] leaf, 21×14 cm. In his handwriting, with his signature and stamp. Rabbi Chaim Berlin notes that he writes the request after seeing the doctor’s recommendation: “and I am confident that my words will not return empty.” The renowned and famous Gaon Rabbi Chaim Berlin (1832 – 13 Tishrei 1912) — eldest son of the Netziv of Volozhin, great-grandson of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, Rav of the distinguished cities of Volozhin, Moscow, and Jerusalem, head of the Volozhin Yeshiva for a certain period, and among the greatest Rabbanim of his generation. He also served in the city of Kobrin, as well as in Kropyvnytskyi and its environs in Ukraine for a decade. Fold mark, light stains. Good–very good condition.
