Letter from HaGaon Rabbi Avraham Chaim Naeh. Jerusalem, 19 Elul 1951. Airmail letter containing words of thanks and blessing from HaGaon Rabbi Avraham Chaim Naeh, author of the celebrated works on Halachic measurements, one of the leading Poskim of the previous generation, and among the prominent Chabad Chassidim, to Rabbi Yisrael Porat upon receiving his Sefer Mevo HaTalmud on Tractate Sanhedrin. Jerusalem, 19 Elul 1951. [1] leaf, an airmail letter. The letter is typewritten, with the handwritten signature and stamp of Rabbi Avraham Chaim Naeh in his capacity as Rav of the Bukharian Quarter of Jerusalem. The letter also includes a note regarding the wording of a particular passage in the Sefer. HaGaon Rabbi Avraham Chaim Naeh (1890–1954), known as “ HaGra”ch Naeh” — Rav, Dayan, and Posek; author of important Halachic works and renowned for his system of Halachic measurements. He was among the leaders of Kollel Chabad and among the founders of Yeshivas Toras Emes, served as Safra DeDayana of the Beis Din Tzedek of the Eidah HaChareidis, among the leaders of the Agudas Yisrael Beis Din Tzedek, Rav in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Rav and Rosh Yeshivah in Egypt, and Rav of the Bukharian Quarter in Jerusalem. Rabbi Yisrael Porat (1886–1974) — a Jerusalem Iluy, among the disciples of the Maharil Diskin and one of the foremost students of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook. Renowned as a sharp and erudite Torah scholar, Darshan, scribe, educator, and communal activist. He served as head of the Doresh Zion Beis Midrash, chief rabbi of Cleveland, Ohio, and Rosh Yeshivah of Yisrael Salanter Yeshiva in New York. Author of the Mevo HaTalmud series and other works.
