HaGaon Rabbi Binyamin Mendelson (1904–1979) — a renowned Gaon, among the Chassidim of Maran Harav HaKadosh the Imrei Emes of Gur. Following the advice of his Rebbe, he immigrated from Poland to Eretz Yisrael and served as Rav of Kfar Ata (later Kiryat Ata), and subsequently as Rav of the Moshav of Komemiyus, founded by members of Tzeirei Agudas Yisrael from the Charedi Nachal framework. He worked extensively to strengthen observance of Shemitah in Eretz Yisrael without reliance on the Heter Mechirah, and for this purpose traveled widely among the agricultural settlements of the country. He was close to Maran Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Aharon of Belz and to Maran the Chazon Ish. Various conditions, fair–good.
