Extract protocol from the ledger of the Dayanim of the communities of Altona and Hamburg, bearing the signature of HaGaon Rabbi Yehudah Leib Wahl, Av Beis Din of Komarno. Altona, 1803. Summary of a legal-Halachic-historical protocol including a ruling regarding a dispute between the communities of Hamburg and Altona, determining that the burial place of HaGaon Rabbi Rafael HaCohen would be in Altona. Altona, 1803. [2] pages, manuscript in Yiddish-Deutsch and Lashon HaKodesh. With the signature of HaGaon Rabbi Yehudah Leib Wahl, Av Beis Din of Komarno, son of HaGaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch, Av Beis Din of AHU. With the wax seal of the Beis Din in Altona. With an official revenue stamp bearing the royal emblem of the King of Denmark, which then ruled Altona. Included with the item is a printed transcription of the text in the document. Rabbi Rafael HaKohen Katz (1722–1803) — disciple of his uncle, the author of the “Sha’agas Aryeh, ” in the Minsk Yeshiva, and his successor as head of the Yeshiva. He served as Rav in several cities, and from 1776 as Rav of the Hamburg, Altona, and Wandsbek communities. Author of the responsa “V'Shav HaKohen” and Sefer “Toras Yekusiel.” Rabbi Raphael HaKohen passed away on on Friday, 26 Marheshvan 1803, and on Sunday, 28 Marheshvan, was brought to rest in the Altona cemetery, following the ruling of the court before us, which determined his burial site that morning. Rabbi Yehudah Leib Wahl (passed away before 1827) — Av Beis Din of Komarno. Son and right-hand assistant of the renowned Posek Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Buska, known as “Reb Hershele Zamoshtsher, ” author of the responsa “Tiferes Tzvi” and Av Beis Din of the Hamburg, Altona, and Wandsbek communities. Rabbi Yehudah Leib’s father wrote of him that he was a “wise son who supports his father in all matters, and without him I cannot perform the difficult service in the sanctuary.” Otzar HaRabbanim 7258.
