A Sacred Garment! Jerusalem Kaftan Worn by Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kahn, Admor of Toldos Aharon This Kaftan was among the holy garments worn by the Holy Admor, Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kahn. A garment of this type, among the traditional Jerusalemite attire, was one of the distinguishing marks of the holy courts of Jerusalem, particularly among the Admorim and Chassidim of the Old Yishuv. Before us is a rare and moving sacred relic — a garment actually worn by one of the foremost Admorim of Jerusalem in the last generation, renowned for his holiness, asceticism, and exceptional meticulousness in Halachah. The Holy Admor Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kahn of Toldos Aharon (1914–1996) — son-in-law of Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Aharon Roth, author of Shomer Emunim, and founder of the holy court of Toldos Aharon. Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak was born in Safed and was a grandson and great-grandson of Rabbi Shmuel Heller, the city's renowned Rav. In his youth, his family emigrated to Europe, and he studied in the Yeshivos of Hungary under Rabbi Yisrael Freund of Hunyad, Rabbi Yehudah Segal Rosner, and Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Yoel of Satmar. Upon reaching marriageable age, he married the daughter of Harav HaKadosh Rabbi Aharon Roth. Following the latter's passing, most of his Chassidim accepted his leadership. Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak was renowned for his holiness and asceticism, alongside his meticulous observance of Halachah.
