Byzantine Glass Bead Necklace with Gold Cross Pendant
5th-9th century AD
A restrung glass bead necklace composed of mainly iridescent graduated spherical beads with small black annular beads in between; a later gold equal-armed cross pendant with raised rim and garnet cabochon to the centre, suspension loop above flanked by two gold-coloured glass beads and two smaller later beads; modern clasp. 28 grams, 76cm (30"). Very fine condition. [No Reserve]

From a private Belgian collection; previously part of a private collection formed in Germany in the 1990s.
