Roman Gemstone with Bird Holding Mouse
1st-2nd century AD
A plano-convex discoid carnelian cloison with intaglio bird stand with the tail of a mouse in its beak, frond to the rear. 2.05 grams, 17mm (3/4"). Fine condition.

Property of a Richmond gentleman; part of his family collection formed before 1980; thence by descent.
