Two volumes: The Journey of C.F. Volney (1820-1757) to Syria and Egypt. Includes descriptions of the people, places, customs and govenment of the Turks and Arabs. In the first volume a folding map, and in the second volume a folding illustration of the ruins of Palmyra in the Syrian desert. Nice leather bindings with gilt inscription on spine. Third edition.
English, 419 + 387 pages, good general condition: slight defects in cover, defects in the folding images, rust stains at the beginning of each volume. 22X14 cm.
