Three voluminous volumes of a memoir for the survey of western Palestine, drafted according to lists taken in the field by the authors, divided in a manner consistent with the map of western Palestine in 26 parts. This is a topographic map prepared by the Foundation for the Study of the Palestine in the 1870s in order to locate and document all the places mentioned in the Bible, external books and sages' literature. The map includes areas surveyed throughout Palestine, west of the Jordan, from the Upper Galilee region to Beer Sheva. The survey was conducted by a group of surveyors from the British Measurement Service who provided measurement services for military and civilian needs. These surveyors were joined at certain times by experts in the fields of geography, geology, biology and more. Includes engravings, charts and folding maps. Proper leather bindings with gilt inscription on spine.
English, 420 + 445 + 450 pages, first and second volumes in good condition, in the third volume the front cover is detached. 29X23 cm.
