Very rare: an Issue of 'Die Schastrommel' - an Underground Magazine by the artist Günter Brus - 1972
Die Schastrommel Nr. 8a, Günter Brus, Aktionen 1964-1966.
Bolzano, Juni 1972.
The Austrian artist Günter Brus became known for the "Wiener Aktionismus" movement, a group of artists who engaged in extreme physical performance that included self-mutilation, smearing with bodily fluids, masturbation and more. For a performance that took place at the University of Vienna in 1968, Bruce was even hospitalized in a psychiatric institution and the police opened criminal proceedings against him. Bruce moved to Berlin where he founded "The Austrian Government in Exile" which this magazine was its main mouthpiece. The issue includes many photographs documenting various performances, drawings, texts, messages, etc. Only 500 copies were printed.
German, 70 pp., 29x20 cm. Good general condition, the first page is on the verge of detaching.
