Ernest Renan (1823-1892) was a French philosopher, historian, philologist and archaeologist. Although he was suspected of anti-Semitism, he contributed greatly to the distribution of Jewish texts in Europe, with the help of his translations, his book "History of the People of Israel" and the study of the Hebrew language. This edition of the poem has been translated by him into French and includes a study of the text. Bound in three-quarter leather binding with gold lettering on the spine.
