London: Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, 1865. One of the most important and well-known travel books of the 19th century. Includes a folding map of the Dead Sea, and engraving plates (some of them in color). Henry Baker Tristram (1822-1906) was an English priest, nature researcher and ornithologist, one of the first European researchers to arrive in Israel.
