Recipes for an Emergency - A Rare Cookbook from the British Mandate Days - Published by Hadassah-Wizo at the request of the National Committee of the Knesset of Israel. A recipe booklet. According to the National Library website it was published around 1940. Includes many recipes with suggestions for meat substitutes, according to the period of austerity and scarcity. Divided into topics: fish, cheese, legumes, sauces. In the middle there is a folder with ”fourteen sample lunch menus”. On the back cover is an illustrated advertisement for refined coconut oil produced by ”Shemen” Haifa, with the inscription: ”also without meat”. 15 pp., 22X15 cm. Some tears and stains on the cover, otherwise in good condition.
