The author, Bromme, was caught up in the revolutionary fervor of 1848 in Europe, asking whether a republic or a constitutional monarchy was better, holding up the constitutions of Texas and Pennsylvania as examples. Bromme was an active promoter of immigration to America, and produced several guides for German immigrants in the 1840s and 1850s. At the end of the book is a large fold-out page with the Constitution of the German Reich. German, 206 pp., 22X15 cm. Fair condition: rust spots and general wear.
