Warsaw Ghetto: A Diary by Mary Berg - First Edition 1945 - Published by L.B. Fischer, New York, 1945. A rare and expensive first edition of the book. Considered one of the first testimonies about the Holocaust to be published in English. The diary of a teenage girl, daughter of an art gallery owner, who grew up in the ghetto, in the Paviak prison, and in the Vittel internment camp, until her liberation by American soldiers. The diary consists of 12 small notebooks, and was translated and published with the help of the journalist Shmuel Leib Schneiderman in February 1945, two months before the end of the war. This copy includes the original paper dust-jacket. English, 253 pp., 20X13 cm. Good overall condition: rust spots, the jacket is torn in half.
