An impressive and important book of photographs of Jewish communities in Eastern Europe before World War II. Includes more than 500 photographs, mainly of the daily life of the Jews in the various cities in Poland, the Soviet Union, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and more. Among other things, photos of rabbis, synagogues, shops, schools, buildings, sites, streets and a variety of types. Also includes maps. Original cloth binding with a woodcut by the artist Shlomo Yudobin. Yiddish and English, 575 pp., 27x20 cm. Most of the pages are in good condition, but there are pages with many tears and at least one page that has crumbled and come off; otherwise in good condition with a some rust spots and light wear to the cover.
