Beilis' Trial Album - Rare Illustrated Booklet on the Trial of a Blood Libel - Warsaw 1913 - אלבאם פון בייליס'עס פראצעס. Menahem Mendel Beilis (1874-1934) was a Russian Jew accused in 1911 of blood libel for the murder of a Gentile child in Kiev. Beilis was eventually acquitted, but his verdict led to international citicism of anti-Semitism throughout the Russian Empire. The story was adapted for the 1966 novel ”The Fixer” by Bernard Malmud. This small booklet documents the trial through pictures of the accused, the victim, the jury, the lawyers, the witnesses and more. Each image includes a short description below.
