A book of poems by Leib Kvitko (1890-1952), about the pogroms committed against Ukrainian Jewry during the Russian Civil War, and in 1919 in particular. Kvitko (Yiddish: קוויטקא) is considered the greatest Yiddish children's poet in the Soviet Union. He was murdered by order of Stalin in 1952 with the rest of the royalists. Cover design by Joseph Tchaikov (1888-1979), a Jew born in Kiev who was also active in the avant-garde movement. Yiddish, 163 pp., 19X13 cm. Pages in good condition with some rust spots; cover with stains and water damage.
