Anatol Stern - A Jew from Poland - Signed Copy - Sifriat Poalim, published by Kibbutz Hartzi Hashomer Hatza'ir Merhavia, 1946. A novel in two volumes, translated by Shimshon Meltzer. Volume one: Pogrom, volume two: Feast in the Plague. On the first page of the first volume there is a dedication from the author in Polish. On the title pages of the books there is a stamp ”For Review” addressed to Am Oved. Stern (1899-1968) was a Polish-Jewish poet, director, artist and children's writer, one of the leaders of the Polish Futurist school. In 1939 he fled to the Soviet Union, where he was sentenced to a year in prison, after which he enlisted in the Free Polish Army. In 1942 he immigrated to Israel, and returned to his homeland in 1948. Hebrew, 477 pp., 17X12 cm. Good condition, light wear.
