The first edition work was published in New York in 1833 by J. & J. Harper. Abby accompanied her husband, Captain Benjamin Morrell, Jr., on the Schooner Antarctic. This details her narrative of her husband's fourth voyage. It includes details on New Zealand, the Philippines, St. Helena, and the Azores. It describes whaling, sealing, and missionary activities. The volume is bound in the original full pink linen, printed paper label on spine. It is housed in a fine linen folding box with gilt leather title-label on spine.
