Mucha, Folio - Illustrations of Topless Women. 23
This elegant illustration is from Alphonse Mucha's Figures Decoratives. The work was published in Paris by Librairie Centrale des Beaux-Arts in 1905. Each of the beautiful lithographs were printed in Fortier-Marotte typography on thick paper and in different colors or tones including matte, light blue, light green, and white.

Marie Gabriel Mourey notes in the preface that Mucha's work exudes elegance, grace, delicacy, and love. The elaborate drawings were confined to various geometric shapes showing how women, children, and plant motifs could be used in decoration and ornamentation. Mucha's work are some of the best examples of the Art Nouveau style.

Alphonse (Alfons) Maria Mucha (1860-1939) was a Bohemian and Czech artist. He produced most of his early work in Paris and truly broke through around 1895. He moved back to Prague in 1910. Mucha was one of the most influential artists to the art nouveau movement.
